The collection is inspired from the 1960's Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and other African American athletes that joined forces to bring awareness to the inequality and challenges they faced. Ensuring that African American’s were treated fairly and given the same opportunities, not only in sports but in life, became the voice for this group. Gaining the support of Martin Luther King Jr. himself, Kareem and other famous athletes were able to generate awareness and hope for generations to come. Mitchell & Ness has created a capsule/collection to honor Kareem and the group of athletes for their contributions to this cause.
